Zombieland promo pic

Last week I got to see a free advance screening of Zombieland, in all honesty I wasn’t sure what to expect. I figured the movie would bring a few laughs here and there, but boy was I surprised. This movie was absolutely hilarious and I would definitely pay money to see it again. Now this isn’t your standard zombie movie, yes the zombies are rotting and disgusting, but really this is a mesh of genres that you would never think could coincide with each other so seamlessly. If you love zombie movies, teen romance movies or just your standard comedy, you must see this movie!

Zombieland is exactly what you would imagine, a world filled with zombies with few humans surviving. This is a land where people no longer go by names for fear of getting close to one another, but instead go by the names of where they are going. Our narrator throughout the movie is Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg), a 20 something man who has always been socially awkward and surprisingly it has worked to his advantage. He is a person living by rules (granted ones that he has created) in a ruleless society. This character is one you quickly grow to love, but it is Woody Harrelson’s character Tallahassee that steals the show.

Tallahassee is a man that has truly found his calling… as a zombie killer. He encompasses the man that we at times wish we could be at different times. He breaks social norms, but really in a “society” with no norms, who says you can’t yell in public, fire guns, or just break things for fun? While Tallahassee is really the man to watch, there are two girls that could certainly rival his carefree rebellious attitude. Sisters Wichita and Little Rock (Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin) round out the group to create a foursome of drifters. These two girls took advantage of the world before the zombie outbreak and continue to do so after, with the goal of reaching an amusement park..

All in all through the laughs one learn can see how this odd quad need each other, even if they never admit it. In Zombieland the people that you surround yourself with become your family and really that’s all you really need. Well, that and a double barrel riffle. Obviously I didn’t want to give anything away, but you will find yourself laughing through the entire movie and wondering what’s coming up next. So what are you waiting for? Go see this movie… but beware of the bathroom.

Thanks for the exclusive, Liz!
